Like any other national parks in Africa or anywhere else, before anyone visits or books a safari, the question will be, is the park worth visiting? The Amboseli National Park is in Kenya but on the southern border of with Tanzania. It is therefore possible that you can visit this national park while on a safari in Tanzania.
What is Amboseli Like?
Amboseli is a word coined from English to mean a salty and dry place. This place however has some swampy areas and streams that flow from the Kilimanjaro ranges. These streams and swamps attract a lot of elephants and a lot of birds.
Because the area is a bit dry and salty, there are areas that are forested near that swamps and streams. These areas have been fenced off to prevent the elephants from eating everything off.
The swampy areas usually become a temporary lake in the long wet season of March to Mid June. There have been about 400 birds recorded here. The park is really small and is easily patrolled and therefore it is safe.
The small area that the park covers makes it a great experience for safari goers as it allows you to see everything in just two days. The park is just a short drive from Nairobi, it’s about an hour.
