The Kilimanjaro Mountains are made up several types of vegetation zones. There are about five distinct vegetation types on the Kilimanjaro.
Every vegetation type runs about 100 meters. In the range of about 800 to about 1800 meters there will be human settlement and human activity.

The Cultivation Zone of Mount Kilimanjaro
Altitude: 2,600 to 6,000 ft. ASL
DAY TEMPS: 90°F – 110°F
NIGHT TEMPS: 60s – 80s F
Precipitation: 20 to 70 in (500 to 1,800 mm)
This is found at the base of the mountain. It’s at the lowest part of the vegetation zones of the Kilimanjaro. This zone is made up of human settlement and a lot other human activity like cultivation farms, villages and grasslands which are mostly of Savannah kind.
This area is very fertile and it explains the expansive farm land and human settlement. Volcanic soils are good for crops like Coffee and Banana plantations.
The soils make the natives here farms by default. The area as a lot of streams that flow of the Kilimanjaro Mountain.
Being below the Montane forest zone also gives this is adequate rain fall to support all the human activity. The area is full of human settlement and therefore animals are a rare spotting here.
You may be able to spot a few birds but the rest of the animals you may meet in the higher zones.
